A clean Google Sheets handoff

For a colleague receiving a shared sheet. Keep this checklist with your own working notes; do not submit its contents.

  1. Record the sheet owner/source and the version or date you are relying on. Keep private data out of public templates.
  2. Confirm your permitted use. Ask the owner for an editable copy or approved export when needed. Respect disabled copy/export controls.
  3. Define the smallest needed range. Check formulas, dates and currency; record what an export may lose.
  4. Label your working copy with source/date and changes. Keep the original reference separate.
  5. Check sharing with the owner before a handoff. Remove unnecessary personal information from the handoff itself.
  6. Record one unresolved question and who can answer it. Unknown is a valid entry.
